Interns in Kenya

Hello Again!
Sorry its been a couple of days in between our posts we've had some trouble with our internet!
We've divided our time between  Seed of Hope orphanage, and the newly built and dedicated Reynold center all week, loving on the kids there that have captured our hearts already!

Our time at the Reynold center was so much different from our ministry at Seed of Hope because the children at the Reynold center had NEVER seen "mzungu's" before, except for the team that built the actual building! They were at first very shy and docile, but once they warmed up to us, became so curious as to why our skin was SO white!! They tried to scratch, slap, wipe and even lick off our white skin!!

When we're in the schools we do a sort of "VBS" type lesson, using the Bible stories and coloring books we brought along to share the love of Jesus! We brought our crayons and coloring books with us to the Reynold center also! WE were informed by the teachers, after the kids just sat their staring at the crayons, that they had NEVER seen them before!!

We got to observe part of the children's school day while we were there, which included a time of singing and dancing (we think the U.S. should incorporate this into our school days!!) Our favorite song they sang was, "shake shake the mango tree" combined with some AWESOME dance moves performed by about 70 4-6 yr olds! It was precious!

When the time came for us to leave, the sweet teachers informed us that the kids were yelling in Swahili, "This is the best day in my life" "Tell the white girls not to leave!" Oh what we take for granted while living in our excess in the States!

We continue to be so blessed in our ministry and can feel your prayers giving us strength and energy!

This verse, Ephesians 3:16-17 has been speaking to me this week,
"According to the riches of His glory may He grant you to be strengthened with power through his SPirit in your inner being that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, being rooted and established in love!"

Blessings!
The Kenya Team (Amy, Breanne, Melissa and Mandi)

Loving reading your blogs, Breanne! I wish you could videotape the dancing; I can only imagine their enthusiasm. You are experiencing the blessing of another culture-eye opening and moving! How sweet that you gave them the "best day of there lives", courtesy of Jesus Christ :-)!!
Prayers continue....
Love,
Mom
