Jambo!
Breanne here from Kenya! We are already having some a blessed time in this beautiful country of Africa. We flew into Nairobi, then boarded a propellor plane with only TWELVE passengers to Kitale! We are in love with this small city! The downtown is crowded with beautiful Kenyans, who have the brightest big toothed smiles and beautiful brown eyes. We are staying in a missionary guest house called "Love Mercy" and have already been so grateful for their sweet hospitality.
Today was our first day in the orphange, Seed of Hope. As a team, on the way to the orphanage, we mediated today on being poured out as a drink offering, reminding ourselves that our mission is a month long, and to constantly be renewing and refreshing ourselves in the presence of our God. Once we arrived, since today is a national Kenyan holiday, we were blessed to be able to spend all day playing with His precious children, without having to having any structured time. Loving their snotty noses, dirty hands and BEAUTIFUL smiles is SO easy!! They adore our cameras and they are constantly asking to "take picure me alone". Practically every moment is picture perfect, as they chase after bubbles, play ring around the rosy and then entertain us with their talented dancing and singing. It is impossible to not melt as they passionately sing together the chorus, "Our God is faithful, God is wonderful, and Walk with Jesus every day!" Even though each child's story is different, their brokenness is not unique. Being left without family, or family that cannot care for them, they cling to their HEAVENLY Father who will never fail them, praising their Creator who fasioned them so beautifully! What a lesson we can learn from their sincerity and child-like faith.
He has already proved to be so faithful to us as well! From safely allowing our (defintley NOT under 50lb) bags to pass through security, to providing us with amazing team unity after only 5 days! I am so grateful for the power of His presence that I feel here already.
We are so excited about being able to continue loving on the kids at Seed of Hope for the next two weeks, establishing relationships that will hopefully cement in their mind the love of their Creator.
Pray for us as we continue to adjust to the time change, DELICIOUS african food, and sleeping under mosquito nets! We are on a God-drived adventure!
Nakupenda (We love you) from the Kenya Team!!!
